The selected Health Tip is summarized below.  An audio clip of the tip as presented by Dr. Leah on the Chat With Women radio show is available at the end of the tip.

Cinnamon -- health benefits of adding a little spice to your diet

Cinnamon...

We use it a lot in our holiday baking and throughout the year but did you know it can help regulate blood sugar and possibly also cardiovascular disease, pancreatic disease and Alzheimer's?   It has also been found to help lower blood pressure as well.

Cinnamon has been used for decades to help regulate glucose levels by making insulin more effective. The form of cinnamon used is an Aqueous (water) extract of the bark.

Since it has so many protective properties, taking cinnamon in the powered form that we use for baking is beneficial as well.

There are numerous ways to add cinnamon into your diet.  Use about 1/2 teaspoon mixed in apple sauce twice a day.  Mix some into your protein shake or smoothie.  Add some to your coffee or hot chocolate.  Try some in your oatmeal next time."

Spice up your health with some cinnamon.
